1. General Agreement

By booking a safari with African Crested Rat Safaris (hereafter referred to as “the Company”), whether through our website, email, phone, or any other means, you acknowledge that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to enter into a binding agreement.

  • You accept and agree to the Terms and Conditions outlined herein.

  • All information provided by you for the booking is true, accurate, current, and complete.


2. Booking Your Safari

  • A contract is established only after we receive a completed booking form and a 30% deposit, followed by a written confirmation from us.

  • If your booking is within 30 days of departure, full payment is required immediately.

  • Special requests (dietary, medical, etc.) must be made in writing at the time of booking.

  • All bookings are subject to availability and confirmation by the Company.


3. Payment Terms

  • The remaining 70% balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the safari start date. Alternatively, clients may pay the full amount upfront.

  • Bookings made within 30 days of travel must be paid in full immediately.

  • We offer a Pay on Arrival option for select safaris—please confirm eligibility in advance.

  • Flexible installment plans are available on request. Please discuss with your tour manager.


4. Booking on Behalf of Others

If you are booking for others:

  • You agree to act as the designated contact and accept full responsibility for all payments, updates, and communication.

  • You confirm that all travelers understand and agree to these Terms.


5. Cancellations by You

You may cancel your booking at any time by notifying us in writing. The following charges will apply:

  • 90+ days before departure: 100% refund

  • 60-89 days: 60% refund of deposit

  • 30-59 days: 50% refund of deposit

  • 15-29 days: 0% refund of deposit

  • 8-14 days: 20% refund of total cost

  • 0-7 days / No Show: No refund

An administrative fee may be applied, and supplier cancellation penalties may also apply.


6. Cancellations or Changes by the Company

  • We reserve the right to make changes or cancel your safari due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • If a major change occurs, you may accept the change, choose another tour, or receive a full refund.

  • No compensation will be given for cancellations due to force majeure (natural disasters, strikes, conflict, etc.).

  • In case of overbooking by a lodge or hotel, comparable alternative accommodations will be arranged.


7. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory for all bookings. You must provide proof of insurance prior to your safari. Insurance must cover cancellations, medical emergencies, theft, and activities included in your itinerary.


8. Our Responsibilities

  • The Company acts as an agent for suppliers such as lodges, airlines, and transport services.

  • We are not liable for death, illness, injury, or loss caused by third-party providers or circumstances beyond our control.

  • No refunds will be issued for unused tickets, services, or no-shows unless refundable by the provider.


9. Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure your passport, visas, vaccinations, and travel documents are in order.

  • Arrive on time for flights and transfers.

  • Behave respectfully toward guides, wildlife, local communities, and other guests.

  • Disclose any medical conditions that may impact your participation.

  • Carry your personal belongings and valuables at your own risk.


10. Dissatisfaction or Complaints

  • Report any issues immediately to your guide or tour manager via email or WhatsApp.

  • Unresolved complaints must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of completing your safari.

  • We will investigate and respond to all formal complaints within 24 hours.


11. Refund Policy

  • Refunds are processed as quickly as possible, typically within 6 weeks.

  • Refunds dependent on supplier reimbursement may take longer.


12. Waiver of Responsibility

Guests may be asked to sign a waiver acknowledging that some safari activities involve risk. Clients must exercise caution and good judgment throughout the tour.


13. Disclaimer

While we strive to ensure all information on our website and communications is accurate, we cannot be held liable for typographical errors or last-minute changes imposed by suppliers.


14. Local Purchases

We are not responsible for the quality or value of any goods purchased locally (e.g. crafts, souvenirs, food), and we cannot assist with shipping or customs fees.


15. Payment Methods

  • We accept bank transfers, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

  • Card payments incur a 3.5% surcharge (charged by the bank, not the Company).

  • Bank transfers must include all related charges.

  • Our official bank accounts are located only in Kenya. Do not send payments to accounts in any other country.
